DAMES 2014: Data analysis and modeling in Earth sciences

Topics and Goals

During the last decades, the increasing public and scientific interest in geoscientific problems has triggered enormous efforts to obtain, analyse and interpret data that contain substantial information about the dynamics of the complex system ''Earth''. For this purpose, novel techniques not only for recording data, but also for their statistical evaluation and data-based modeling had to be developed.

Following the great success of the first three meetings of this kind, the 4th International conference on Data Analysis and Modeling in Earth Sciences (DAMES 2014) will be held in Milan, Italy, from 6 to 8 October 2014.

The objective of the conference is to bring together researchers dealing with data analysis and modeling in all fields of Earth Sciences, promoting the exchange of knowledge on both methodological developments and Earth Science applications.

Specific topics may come from all fields of Earth Sciences, including atmospheric sciences, present-day and palaeo-climatology, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, geodynamics, seismology, and solar-terrestrial physics. Contributions on applied topics such as environmental risk analysis, electricity networks, or sustainability sciences are encouraged.

The programme of the conference will include plenary oral sessions with keynote lectures and contributed talks, a poster session and a conference dinner.
